Infant serious after North York pedestrian crash

Three people, including an infant, were hospitalized after police responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle Sunday evening in North York.

Toronto Police said reports started coming in before 6 p.m. after a crash in the area of Glengrove Ave. W. and Caledonia Rd.

Victims and Injuries

Police later said that a woman in her 30s, a man in his 20s and an infant had been transported to a hospital with unknown injuries. They did not specify if the injured were pedestrians, vehicle occupants, or both. The vehicle remained at the scene.

Paramedics told CP24 that the infant suffered serious and possibly life-threatening injuries. The woman’s injuries were also life-threatening, while the man was in serious but non-life-threatening condition. A fourth person was treated at the scene with minor injuries.

Road Closures and Investigation

Caledonia Road is closed in both directions near the scene as police investigate. Authorities asked people to avoid the area and consider alternate routes.

Separate Fatal Crash in East Gwillimbury

In a separate incident, York Regional Police responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash Sunday at 12:35 a.m. at Doane Rd. and Leslie St., west of Hwy. 404. The vehicle had five occupants; one was pronounced dead, and four were hospitalized—three with life-threatening injuries and one with serious but non-life-threatening wounds.

Leslie Street was closed from Jeffery Cres. to Seaview Heights for several hours before reopening around lunchtime. The major collision investigation unit is probing the incident. Police asked anyone with information to contact the unit or Crime Stoppers.
