A 42-year-old man lost his life on Friday evening when his vehicle collided with a tree in a residential neighborhood of Scarborough.

Toronto Police responded to a single-vehicle crash near Goldhawk Trail and Bridport Crescent, northwest of McCowan Road and McNicoll Avenue, at approximately 7:30 p.m. The driver was operating a 2011 Honda traveling eastbound on Goldhawk Trail when the car left the roadway and struck a tree, according to a police statement released Saturday. The vehicle came to rest on the grassy boulevard in front of a house, with the front end heavily damaged and the driver's side airbag deployed.

The driver was rushed to a hospital but was later pronounced dead. Police identified the victim as a 42-year-old man. The investigation by Traffic Services is ongoing.
