A 48-year-old man from Chapeau, Quebec, is facing a lengthy list of criminal charges, including assault with a weapon and forcible confinement, following a domestic dispute in Cobden on Friday evening, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
Incident details
Officers from the Renfrew OPP detachment responded to a report of a dispute between two individuals shortly after 8 p.m. on June 19, the OPP said in a news release. The man was arrested at the scene and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing in court.

In addition to assault with a weapon and forcible confinement, the man faces the following charges: assault; uttering threats; dangerous operation of a vehicle; careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; unauthorized possession of a firearm; careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order; and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Victim protection
The OPP stated that the man's name would not be released to protect the identity of the victim. Cobden is located approximately 100 kilometres northwest of Ottawa.
