Two adults are in hospital with serious injuries after a van drove into a daycare in Stony Plain on Thursday morning, June 4, 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 10:55 a.m. near 50 Avenue and 40 Street, according to Parkland RCMP.
Details of the crash
A white van collided with the kitchen area of the daycare facility. The driver, a 30-year-old man, was taken to hospital for medical examination and is not in custody. A 20-year-old female employee of the daycare was struck by debris during the crash and also transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities confirmed that none of the 18 children present at the daycare were injured. All children were evacuated safely from the building.
Investigation and aftermath
The collision caused a gas leak in the building, which has since been repaired. ATCO has deemed the area safe for the public. RCMP are still investigating the cause of the crash and urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash camera footage to contact the Parkland RCMP non-emergency line at 825-220-7267.
