York Regional Police are investigating two separate overnight shootings that occurred in Markham and Vaughan on June 26, 2026. No injuries were reported in either incident, according to police.
Markham shooting
The first shooting took place in Markham, where police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Highway 7 and McCowan Road. Officers arrived to find evidence of a shooting but no victims. The investigation is ongoing, and police are canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.

Police appeal for information
York Regional Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the areas at the time of the shootings to come forward. “We are asking the public for any information that could assist in identifying suspects,” said Constable Laura Nicolle in a statement. “No injuries is fortunate, but these incidents pose a serious risk to public safety.”
