UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

I am quite confident that Kris Knoblauch, the former coach of the Edmonton Oilers, did not make the trades and player decisions following the 2025-26 season. That responsibility rests squarely on Stan Bowman. He is the one who made the choices that have left the Oilers in their current position, with no solid future ahead. Bowman must go!

ACTS OF INJUSTICE

Re “Accused teen call shots” (Joe Warmington, May 7): This article is absolutely correct on all points, and I would add that shooting at places of worship, especially when the same faith is repeatedly targeted, is not youthful indiscretion or a random careless discharge to see how a gun works. It is a hate crime, period. Hate is not instinctive; it is learned behavior. It is taught, supported, and often financed. The Youth Criminal Justice Act should not be used as a shield for perpetrators. Such crimes should be excluded from its protections, and any individuals involved should be charged and tried as adults. The public has a right to know all relevant details.

NOTING HISTORY

Regarding the removal of John A. Macdonald from public spaces, history must be framed in context. A single individual is not responsible for the administration of residential schools by others long after his death. Einstein, the inventor of the atomic bomb, was never held responsible for its evil use causing thousands of deaths in Hiroshima and Nagasaki during his lifetime, nor has his name been erased anywhere. Think about it. Reconciliation, not revenge and ongoing retaliation, is the path forward.

(Tearing down Sir John A. – literally – does no one any good other than making a few activists feel better about themselves.)
