New polling data released by Main Street Research suggests that the upcoming mayoral election in Toronto will be a tight race between Olivia Chow and Anthony Bradford. The survey, conducted June 20-22, 2026, shows Chow with 32% support among decided voters, while Bradford trails closely at 29%, within the margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points.
Candidates neck-and-neck as election day approaches
The poll surveyed 1,200 Toronto residents and indicates that a significant portion of voters remain undecided. Main Street Research CEO Quito Maggi noted, 'This race is too close to call. Both candidates have strong bases, but the undecided voters will likely decide the outcome.'
Chow, a former city councillor and NDP MP, has focused her campaign on affordable housing and transit. Bradford, a current city councillor, emphasizes fiscal responsibility and public safety.
Key issues driving voter decisions
Housing affordability emerged as the top concern for 38% of respondents, followed by transit and traffic (22%), and public safety (18%). Chow leads among voters under 45, while Bradford holds an edge with those over 60.
The election is scheduled for October 24, 2026. With the race tightening, both campaigns are expected to increase outreach to undecided voters in the coming weeks.
