A 23-year-old woman has been charged following the discovery of a deceased newborn inside a residence in Brampton on Sunday evening. Peel Regional Police responded to a call in the area of Kennedy Road North and Williams Parkway shortly before 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located the lifeless body of an infant within the home.
Acting Inspector Matthew Miller confirmed that a woman was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with concealing the body of a child after birth. The investigation is in its early stages, with authorities working to gather more details about the incident.
Investigation Underway
Police have cordoned off the residence as forensic teams prepare to execute a search warrant on Monday. The age and gender of the infant have not been disclosed. Miller emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, "Incidents of this nature are deeply disturbing. The officers involved are receiving appropriate mental health support."

Neighbor Describes 'Revolving Door' of Occupants
A neighbor, who chose to remain anonymous, told CP24 that the home appeared to house between 10 and 20 individuals. At one point, it seemed that someone was sleeping in the garage. The neighbor described the residence as a "revolving door" of occupants, suggesting a high turnover of people living there.
Police have not released further details about the circumstances leading to the infant's death. The investigation continues as forensic evidence is collected and analyzed.
