Some cuts and bruises appear to be the only lasting punishment that the fans involved in a wild ballpark brawl will receive. According to the Dallas Morning News, none of the four fans in the nasty fight in the stands during Monday’s baseball game between the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers were arrested following the incident, and there were no charges laid at the time.
No Arrests Made
The four fans — whose names were not released — were ejected from the stadium and issued criminal trespass warnings, the Rangers and Arlington PD told the outlet. “The Rangers prioritize fan safety and staff members responded in accordance with their training,” the franchise said. It was not announced if the fans will receive any kind of long-term ban from the stadium.
What Happened in the Brawl?
The incident, which took place in section 113 of the right-field stands at the ballpark in Arlington, Tex., seems to have started with some taunting by a male Yankees fan, who was accompanied by a woman believed to be his girlfriend. In one of several videos posted online of the incident, the man — who was wearing a white Aaron Judge jersey — appears to be taunting one of the Rangers faithful sitting a row behind him. The Yankees fan appears to repeatedly say “brush your teeth,” while making a motion with his hand around his mouth.
A large man wearing blue Texas gear doesn’t take too kindly to this and stands up to confront the man, who then knocks something out of the Rangers fan’s hand. That’s when the altercation erupts, with the Rangers fan slugging the rival fan with a hard right, sending him down a row. A Rangers fan in red, who the Yankees fan originally had been taunting, then jumps down and hits the staggered man several times with an inflatable plastic air tube. The two trade a few punches before the Yankees fan is again put down on his backside and things are broken up.
What Happened to the Female Yankees Fan?
The calm didn’t last for too long, however. As the fans were being escorted out of the section, the female Yankees fan looked to be continuing with the trash talk. She then took a swing at the fan dressed in blue, who pushed her back and sent her tumbling down approximately five rows of concrete stairs, ultimately landing in some seats several rows below.
Aftermath of the Fight
In videos posted online, the Yankees fans later were seen being escorted by security with the male left bloodied from the fight. According to the Dallas Morning News, the fan was transported to a local hospital for treatment. It was unclear what happened to the Rangers fans after the chaotic brawl.
