Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse has reportedly requested a trade, according to multiple sources. The 30-year-old blueliner has been a cornerstone of the Oilers' defense since being drafted seventh overall in 2013.
Nurse's Tenure with the Oilers
Nurse made his NHL debut in 2015 and quickly established himself as a reliable defenseman. Over his career with Edmonton, he has recorded 68 goals and 196 assists in 650 games. He has also been a key contributor on the power play and penalty kill.
Trade Request Details
The request comes as the Oilers face salary cap constraints and roster decisions. Nurse is signed through the 2029-30 season with an annual cap hit of $9.25 million. The Oilers have not publicly commented on the report.
If traded, Nurse would become one of the top defensemen available on the market. Several teams are expected to express interest, given his size, skating ability, and offensive contributions.
