The Toronto Blue Jays have reinstated right-handed pitcher Trey Yesavage from the injured list, making him available for the team's upcoming game against the Boston Red Sox. The announcement was made by the club on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, just hours before the first pitch at Rogers Centre.
Return from Injury
Yesavage, 24, had been sidelined with a right forearm strain since late March. He was placed on the 15-day injured list on March 25 after experiencing discomfort during a spring training outing. The right-hander has been progressing through a rehab assignment with the Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo, where he made two starts, posting a 3.60 ERA over 10 innings with 12 strikeouts and three walks.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider expressed confidence in Yesavage's readiness. "Trey has worked hard to get back, and we feel he's ready to contribute at the major league level," Schneider said. "His stuff has looked sharp, and we're excited to have him back in the bullpen."
Season Performance
Before the injury, Yesavage had made three appearances out of the Blue Jays' bullpen, compiling a 2.45 ERA over 7.1 innings with eight strikeouts. He was a key part of Toronto's relief corps last season, appearing in 45 games and posting a 3.12 ERA with 72 strikeouts in 60.2 innings.
The Blue Jays selected Yesavage in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of East Carolina University. He quickly rose through the minor league system, making his major league debut in September 2025. He also pitched in the 2025 World Series, allowing one run over two innings in Game 7 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Roster Moves
To make room on the active roster, the Blue Jays optioned left-handed pitcher Brandon Eisert to Triple-A Buffalo. Eisert had a 5.40 ERA in 8.1 innings over six appearances this season.
The Blue Jays enter Tuesday's game with a 14-12 record, sitting third in the American League East. They face the Red Sox, who are 13-13 and currently in fourth place in the division.
Yesavage is expected to be available out of the bullpen for the series opener against Boston. The Blue Jays have not announced whether he will be used in a multi-inning role or in shorter relief appearances.
