Combine RV Camping and Golf for the Ultimate Adventure
RV Camping and Golf: Perfect Pairing for Adventure

The sun was still smouldering in the western sky when we rolled into the RV park at the Golden Golf Club. I carefully backed our little trailer into site No. 6, scarfed down a couple of doughnuts, and in minutes I was waggling a driver on the first tee. Three hours later in the waning light, I cracked a cold one by the fire pit, bored my wife with a re-enactment of my incredible par save on hole 17, and watched the stars ignite in the darkening sky. Golf and RVing: it's a match made in heaven.

Why Choose a Travel Trailer for Golf Trips

Typically, about the only things I pull are stunts to get out of chores and golf balls 30 yards left of the target. Trailers? Not so much. But last week, thanks to a cozy little R-Pod rental, that all changed. I've rambled down the road in a variety of contraptions, but pulling a travel trailer has significant advantages. After unhitching your cozy home, you have the freedom to cruise around your destination at your leisure. Also, costs associated with a small travel trailer versus a motorhome are significantly less.

RVing is all about the laid-back lifestyle: lawnchairs, firesides, afternoon naps, exploration, and adventure. You can customize your itinerary to fit your tastes, whether lakeside camping, exploring backroads, mountain biking, hot springs, or wine touring.

Golden Golf Club: A Gem in the Kootenay Rockies

In my opinion, one of the best things to pair with an RVing adventure is golf. The Kootenay Rockies always call when I need a golf fix, and Golden is a perfect spot. Graeme Kreiner, general manager at the Golden Golf Club, says, "While the RV Park is secluded with great privacy in the trees, its proximity to the golf course is unique. It's a thirty-second walk to the first tee and a one-minute stumble home." The course meanders along the Columbia River with spectacular views of the Rockies and the Purcells. It's comfortably in my top three golf courses in the Kootenay Rockies.

After zipping around the peaceful Golden Golf Club in the morning, we departed for the Invermere area, where my two other favourite Kootenay Rockies courses are situated. Before setting up at Canyon RV Park in Radium Hot Springs, we explored the wonderful stretch of road between Golden and Radium. Tucked-away Brisco Falls and the Canyon Creek hiking trail in Nicholson were highlights.
