Bahrain Olympic Committee Extends DP World Tour Partnership Through 2036

The Bahrain Olympic Committee has solidified a significant long-term partnership with the DP World Tour, ensuring the continuation of the prestigious Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the professional golf circuit until at least 2036. This multi-year extension was formally announced during the opening ceremony for the 2026 tournament, held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain.

Strategic Partnership Expansion

The renewed agreement represents a decade-long commitment that underscores Bahrain's growing influence in international sports. His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, emphasized the championship's importance as "an exceptional competitive platform" that offers substantial prize rewards and serves as a pathway to major global competitions.

Sheikh Khalid noted that this extension demonstrates "deep-seated international confidence in Bahrain's professional organisational capabilities" and reflects the kingdom's dedication to sustainable success in sporting events. The tournament features a substantial $2.75 million prize fund and follows the Dubai Invitational and Hero Dubai Desert Classic as part of the DP World Tour's International Swing.

Corporate Sponsorship Continuity

In parallel developments, Bapco Energies has confirmed its continued role as Title Partner of the championship through 2028. The integrated energy company initially became Title Partner in 2025 after serving as presenting partner in 2024. Mark Thomas, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bapco Energies, stated that the partnership "reinforces our commitment to world-class sporting events in the Kingdom" while supporting Bahrain's expanding global presence.

The tournament partnership focuses on enhancing the experience for players, stakeholders, and spectators while establishing Bahrain's premier international golf event as a world-class attraction. Notably, the championship is implementing environmental initiatives including powering hospitality units and structures with solar energy and batteries.

Venue Commitment and Future Outlook

The Royal Golf Club in Bahrain will continue as the host venue for the 2027 and 2028 editions of the championship. Captain Waleed Abdulhameed Al Alawi, Chairman of the Bahrain Royal Golf Club, expressed excitement about hosting the 2026 event and pride in the club's ongoing partnership with the DP World Tour.

Al Alawi acknowledged the positive feedback received about the course and thanked the dedicated team for their efforts in preparing the event to the highest standards. The extended agreements across multiple stakeholders create a stable foundation for the tournament's continued growth and international recognition within professional golf.
