Maple Leafs' Nick Robertson Injured, Day-to-Day After Blocking Shot
Leafs' Nick Robertson injured, listed day-to-day

The Toronto Maple Leafs' hard-fought overtime victory against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night came with a cost, as forward Nick Robertson left the game with an injury and is now listed as day-to-day.

Injury Occurred Early in Denver Contest

Head coach Craig Berube confirmed the news to media in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, detailing that Robertson sustained a lower-body injury during the first period of the 4-3 win in Denver. The incident happened on Robertson's second shift of the game when he blocked a shot from Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson.

Robertson was visibly in pain and unable to put weight on his left leg as he was helped off the ice at Ball Arena. He did not return to the game for the remainder of the night.

Impact on the Leafs' Lineup

Robertson's absence is a setback for the team. He had been part of an effective third line alongside centre Nicolas Roy and rookie Easton Cowan. In 43 games this season, Robertson has contributed 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points.

With Robertson out, veteran forward Calle Jarnkrok drew back into the lineup for Toronto's game on Tuesday night against the Utah Mammoth. Jarnkrok had been a healthy scratch for the Leafs' previous two contests.

Playoff Push Continues Amid Injury

The injury news comes as the Maple Leafs are in the midst of a strong surge. Before Tuesday's NHL games, the team had moved into the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, marking the first time they held a playoff position since November 7. Their point streak reached 10 games (8-0-2) heading into the matchup with Utah.

Goaltender Dennis Hildeby was given the start against the Mammoth as Toronto aimed to extend that streak to 11 games.

A personal milestone is also on hold for Robertson. His next NHL game will be the 200th of his career.

The team has provided no further timeline for Robertson's return, classifying him as day-to-day as their four-game road trip continues.
