Nick Robertson's 9-Point Streak Solidifies His Role with Maple Leafs
Nick Robertson's Growing Role with Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs winger Nick Robertson is making a significant impact on the ice, yet he refuses to take his position for granted. Amidst a season where the team has struggled to find consistency, Robertson's personal performance has been a bright spot, highlighted by a run of nine points in his previous nine games heading into a Tuesday night matchup against the St. Louis Blues.

Earning His Ice Time

Despite his offensive surge, Robertson maintains a grounded perspective. He has been scratched from the lineup only once this season, on October 24th in a game against the Buffalo Sabres. His response was immediate; upon returning the very next night, he scored a goal, demonstrating the resilience that has characterized his recent play. After a single game without a point against Calgary on October 28th, he embarked on the productive point streak that has solidified his value to the team.

"It’s nice to be a contributor, but honestly, the in-and-out (of the Leafs lineup) is never out of my mind," Robertson stated. "The puck is going in and the effort is there, which I’m happy about, but I don’t want to be complacent. I have to be good in practice, good in my routines and preparing myself for games."

A Secure Spot on the Roster

Earlier trade speculation surrounding the 24-year-old has largely subsided as his performance has spoken for itself. With injuries plaguing the roster and a lack of consistent production from other forwards, the idea of trading Robertson now appears counterproductive. His current level of play not only justifies a permanent spot in the lineup but has also earned him a coveted position on the top line alongside John Tavares and William Nylander.

Robertson is keenly aware of the opportunity and the fleeting nature of success in professional hockey. "I have to earn my spot to play with guys like JT and Willie," he said. "I’ve seen in this business that anything can happen, guys are playing a lot of minutes, and the next thing you know, they’re not playing. That’s in my mind, to keep pushing, keep working. It’s always the same."

By the Numbers and Looking Ahead

Heading into the game against St. Louis on November 18, 2025, Robertson was ranked seventh in team scoring with 11 points in 18 games. As Coach Craig Berube continues to navigate a lineup missing key players like Auston Matthews, Scott Laughton, and Nicolas Roy, Robertson's ability to contribute offensively and his determined mindset have become invaluable assets for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
