Roughriders' QB Trevor Harris Savors Grey Cup Parade Amid Contract Uncertainty
Riders' QB Harris celebrates Grey Cup, future unknown

Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harris took a deliberate moment to absorb the scene before him on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Standing on the second deck of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina, the Grey Cup MVP raised the championship trophy above his head as hundreds of cheering fans erupted in thunderous applause.

A Moment to Remember

Harris later explained he wanted to fully appreciate what the celebration meant to the community. "I just kind of wanted to take a look at all the people here," Harris said after the official championship parade concluded. "Just for a second you kind of see what it means to this city. Just soaking in this moment was really truly something that I'll be able to remember."

The Roughriders paraded down Albert Street on armoury trucks driven by the Royal Canadian Armed Forces, with hundreds of supporters lining the streets before gathering at the legislative building to hear from players and coaches.

Fans Chant for Return

As the 39-year-old quarterback approached the microphone, the crowd broke into spontaneous chants of "one more year" directed at the pending free agent. Harris responded with gratitude for the team's legendary supporters.

"I appreciate you guys," Harris told the enthusiastic crowd. "Thank you so much for making this moment special. This is your guys' moment as well. We've always had the best fans in the league and now we've got the best dang team in the league to match you guys."

After the crowd erupted in cheers, Harris raised the possibility of a championship repeat, telling fans, "This is our fifth title but something we've never done is go back-to-back so let's go ahead and start talking about that. We've got the best coach in the league and we're going to have the best team in the league next year."

Contract Talks Pending

Despite the optimistic statement about defending the championship, Harris clarified to reporters that his return isn't yet guaranteed. The veteran quarterback explained that formal discussions with general manager Jeremy O'Day, head coach Corey Mace and the football operations staff still need to occur.

"I just think any time you've got Corey Mace here and the leadership that we do with J.O. and Kyle Carson and Larry Dean, you're always going to have a chance at that," Harris said regarding his back-to-back comments. "And so we'll kind of see. I'll sit down with J.O. at some point, probably this week, and then I'll talk to my wife and kind of just go from there."

The celebration came less than 48 hours after Harris was named Grey Cup MVP, cementing his place in Roughriders history regardless of what the future holds for the veteran quarterback.
