Stampeders Re-Sign Key Offensive Players Tevin Jones and Tomas Jack-Kurdyla for 2026
Stampeders Re-Sign Tevin Jones and Tomas Jack-Kurdyla

The Calgary Stampeders have moved decisively to retain core talent, announcing the re-signing of two key offensive players ahead of the Canadian Football League's free agency period. The team has brought back veteran American receiver Tevin Jones and Canadian offensive lineman Tomas Jack-Kurdyla, ensuring continuity for the 2026 season.

Securing a Proven Pass-Catcher

The return of Tevin Jones is a significant boost for the Stampeders' aerial attack. Jones proved to be a vital component of the team's offense during the 2025 CFL season, serving as both a reliable target and a respected voice in the locker room.

In his debut season with Calgary, the 33-year-old appeared in 17 regular-season games, amassing 47 receptions for 618 yards and four touchdowns. He also contributed on special teams, recording five tackles. His performance included a breakout game in Week 10 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, where he scored his first two touchdowns with the Stamps, including an impressive 78-yard reception.

Jones, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound native of Amory, Mississippi, brought prior CFL experience from stints with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Edmonton Elks, as well as NFL experience with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His career CFL totals now stand at 172 receptions for 2,496 yards and 15 touchdowns across 64 games.

Bolstering the Offensive Line

Alongside Jones, the Stampeders have solidified their offensive front by re-signing Tomas Jack-Kurdyla. The Montreal native joined Calgary in May 2025 and quickly became a valuable piece in specific offensive packages.

Jack-Kurdyla, 29, played in nine games for the Stampeders last season. He was primarily utilized as an extra offensive lineman in running situations, providing crucial blocking power. His role expanded due to injuries, seeing extensive action at guard during Weeks 14 and 19.

Standing 6-foot-4 and 307 pounds, Jack-Kurdyla brought substantial experience to the Red and White, having previously played 45 games and made 29 starts over four seasons with the Edmonton Elks. Before his CFL career, he was a standout at the University of Buffalo, starting 40 games at right guard.

Looking Ahead to Free Agency

Both signings are critical pre-emptive moves by the Stampeders' management, as Jones and Jack-Kurdyla were set to become free agents on February 10. Securing their services removes two important names from the open market and provides stability as the team builds its roster for the upcoming campaign.

However, work remains for the Calgary front office. The team still has 23 players poised to hit free agency next month. The list includes notable names such as linebacker Adam Bighill, receiver Malik Henry, defensive lineman Lorenzo Mauldin IV, and receiver Dominique Rhymes.

By locking down a productive receiver and a versatile lineman, the Stampeders have taken concrete steps to maintain the offensive momentum from their 2025 turnaround season, signaling their intent to compete at the highest level once again.
