Soccer Fans' Sex Drive Kicks In After Big Win: Study

A new study has explored the link between soccer and sex, finding that big victories on the field can lead to a great time in the bedroom. The study, conducted by Swedish sex toy company Lelo, surveyed more than 4,600 fans and revealed that nearly 32% of respondents said a win improves their sex lives because the euphoria of victory brings people closer together.

Goals and Orgasms

Nearly one in four respondents strongly agreed that a winning goal from their favorite team feels almost identical to an orgasm due to the enormous release of tension. The company noted that this has a lot to do with hormones, since male football is a testosterone-fueled sport, and those hormones don't stay only on the field. According to the survey results, a goal is not just a score but a preparation for a later win in the bedroom, with over 38% feeling an adrenaline rush after a goal that makes them crave intimacy and enhances the experience. Twenty percent go as far as calling a win the best foreplay, coining the term goal-gasm.

Halftime Quickies

The study also highlights that 16% of respondents use the game's halftime break to engage in a quickie, making the most of their excited state. The company commented that this is a better use of 15 minutes than listening to boring stats.

Comfort Sex After Losses

When teams lose, fan reactions are split: a little more than 30% want to be left alone, but 13% turn to comfort sex as a way to offset the disappointment. The company concluded that whether it is victory sex or comfort sex, the World Cup reminds us that we are emotional, sexual beings. Football may be about the 22 players on the field, but the most important result happens behind closed doors.
