Nova Scotia Health Set to Launch Digital Health Record System
Nova Scotia Health is preparing to launch its new digital health record system, known as One Person One Record, this Saturday. The initiative aims to consolidate patient information into a single, accessible digital platform, improving efficiency and coordination across the healthcare system.
The system has been tested at IWK Health, as shown in a photo courtesy of IWK Health and the Government of Nova Scotia. The rollout is part of a broader effort to modernize healthcare delivery in the province.
One Person One Record will allow healthcare providers to access a patient's complete medical history, including medications, allergies, and test results, in real time. This is expected to reduce duplicate tests, minimize errors, and enhance patient care.
Nova Scotia Health officials have emphasized the importance of data security and privacy in the new system. Patients will have control over who accesses their information, and strict protocols are in place to protect sensitive data.
The launch comes after years of development and testing, with the goal of creating a seamless experience for both patients and healthcare professionals. The system is part of a larger digital health strategy that includes telemedicine and online appointment booking.
Residents are encouraged to ensure their personal information is up to date with their healthcare provider to facilitate a smooth transition. The province expects the system to be fully operational across all facilities by the end of the year.
