Trump Signs Presidential Permit for Bridger Pipeline Using Keystone XL Assets
U.S. President Donald Trump signed a Presidential Permit on Thursday, authorizing the private U.S. company Bridger Pipeline LLC to proceed with its proposed cross-border pipeline project. The project will utilize leftover infrastructure from the Keystone XL pipeline.
"Slightly different than the last administration — they wouldn't sign a pipeline deal," Trump said following the signing.
The permit allows Bridger to construct and operate the cross-border segment, enabling crude oil to flow from Canada to the United States. Regulatory filings in Montana suggest Bridger plans to build a 550,000-barrel-per-day pipeline beginning at the Canada-U.S. border near Phillips County, Montana.
The owner of the former Keystone XL assets, South Bow Corp., has been advancing work on a joint project with a U.S. partner — widely believed to be Bridger — known as Prairie Connector.
More details are expected to emerge as the project progresses.
