A 33-year-old man in Sault Ste. Marie has been charged after allegedly threatening an employee with bear spray during a robbery. The incident occurred on June 18, 2026, at a local business. Police responded to a report of a robbery in progress and arrived to find the suspect still on the scene. The employee was not physically injured but was shaken by the encounter. Officers arrested the man without incident. He is now facing charges including robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats. The accused was held for a bail hearing. The identity of the suspect has not been released pending the court appearance. Sault Ste. Marie Police Service continues to investigate and asks anyone with information to come forward.
