Hamilton man charged in cemetery vase theft

A 51-year-old Hamilton man has been charged in connection with the theft of dozens of bronze flower vases from a local cemetery.

Details of the Theft

Hamilton Police reported that between April 17 and April 19, visitors to White Chapel Memorial Garden Cemetery discovered that numerous bronze vases placed at the grave sites of loved ones had been removed. Following police reports, investigators determined that approximately 40 vases had been stolen.

Arrest and Charges

On May 13, investigators arrested Jason McIntosh at his residence. He was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of proceeds of crime, and operation while prohibited.

Police have since recovered a number of the stolen items and look forward to returning them to the affected families.

Assault Suspect Sought in Toronto

Toronto Police are requesting the public's help identifying a suspect sought in an assault causing bodily harm investigation. On Oct. 2, 2025, police responded to an assault call in the Commissioners and Saulter Sts. area. It is reported that the suspect was driving his motor vehicle and had almost hit the victim. When a verbal argument ensued, the suspect punched the victim multiple times, causing injuries. The male suspect is described as having a medium build, and was wearing a black t-shirt, black hoodie, burgundy cargo pants, white running shoes, and a baseball cap. Firearm Discharge Under Investigation

Toronto Police are investigating a firearm discharge on Wednesday at a restaurant in the Wellington St. and Spadina Ave. area. Police arrived on the scene around 12:05 p.m. and found evidence of gunfire with damage to a restaurant window. It is unknown when the gunfire occurred, but there were no reported injuries and no suspect information. Anyone with information is asked to contact Toronto Police's 14 Division.

Barrie Police Investigate Shooting

Barrie Police are investigating a targeted shooting on Tuesday around 7:45 p.m. in the city's east end. Emergency crews attended the area of Johnson St. and Shanty Bay Rd. following a report of a gunshot and found a male victim at the scene. A 22-year-old man was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and then airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he was listed in stable condition. Witnesses reported seeing two males running toward Johnson Beach following the shooting, but the suspects are still at large. Child Injured in Owen Sound Crash

Owen Sound Police say a four-year-old child was hurt in a motor vehicle collision on Tuesday around 3:25 p.m. Police responded to reports of a motor vehicle colliding with a child pedestrian in the area of 14th St. and Alpha St. The four-year-old was taken to hospital with unknown injuries not thought to be life-threatening. Officers reminded all drivers to be extra vigilant with the increase in foot traffic that comes with warmer weather, especially in the times just before and after school. Pedestrians should also stay aware of their surroundings at all times, and parents are encouraged to make sure their kids know how to stay safe when around busy streets.
