CAA closing offices in Windsor and Leamington
CAA closing offices in Windsor and Leamington

CAA has announced the closure of its offices in Windsor and Leamington, affecting local services and employees. The decision is part of a broader restructuring initiative aimed at streamlining operations and adapting to changing customer needs.

Details of the closures

The Windsor office, located on Ouellette Avenue, and the Leamington branch will shut down permanently. CAA stated that the closures will result in job losses, though specific numbers were not disclosed. Affected employees will be offered support, including severance packages and assistance in finding new roles within the organization.

Impact on services

Members in Windsor and Leamington will no longer have in-person access to CAA services such as travel bookings, insurance inquiries, and membership assistance. However, CAA emphasized that roadside assistance and emergency services will continue uninterrupted. Customers are encouraged to use online platforms or call the customer service centre for support.

Reasons for restructuring

According to CAA, the closures are driven by a shift in consumer behaviour toward digital channels and a need to reduce operational costs. The organization noted that foot traffic at physical locations has declined significantly in recent years, making it unsustainable to maintain all branches.

"We are adapting to how our members want to interact with us," a CAA spokesperson said. "While these closures are difficult, they are necessary to ensure we can continue to provide high-quality services in a cost-effective manner."

Community reaction

Local residents and business owners expressed disappointment over the closures. The Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce said the loss of CAA offices could reduce convenience for seniors and those without reliable internet access. "Many people rely on the in-person support CAA provides, especially for travel planning and insurance advice," said chamber president Matt Marchand.

The closures are expected to take effect by the end of August 2026. CAA has not announced any plans to open alternative locations in the region.
