Porter Airlines has announced it will add four new sun destinations from Edmonton International Airport for the 2026-27 winter season. The new routes are part of the airline's expansion strategy to offer more warm-weather options for travelers in Western Canada.
New Routes from Edmonton
The airline will begin flights to Cancun, Mexico; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Los Cabos, Mexico; and Orlando, Florida. These destinations are popular among Canadians seeking to escape the cold winter months. The flights will operate on a seasonal basis, starting in late 2026 and running through early 2027.
Schedule and Aircraft
Porter will use its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft for these routes, offering a two-by-two seating configuration with no middle seats. The airline also provides complimentary beer and wine onboard, along with premium snacks.
Flights to Cancun will operate twice weekly, while Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos will each have weekly service. Orlando will see three weekly flights. All times are scheduled to optimize connections from other Canadian cities via Porter's hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Expansion in Western Canada
This announcement follows Porter's recent growth in Western Canada, including new routes from Vancouver and Calgary. The airline has been expanding its network to compete with larger carriers like WestJet and Air Canada.
Edmonton travelers can book these new sun destination flights starting later this month. Porter Airlines says the addition of these routes reflects strong demand for leisure travel from Alberta.
