Signature Aviation Expands to Costa Rica with New Private Terminal at Guanacaste Airport
Signature Aviation to Build Private Terminal in Costa Rica

In a significant move to bolster its presence in Latin America, Signature Aviation, the world's largest network of private aviation terminals, has unveiled plans to construct and operate a new, state-of-the-art terminal in Costa Rica.

A Strategic Expansion into Latin America

The company announced on January 8, 2026, that it will finance, build, and manage a new General & Business Aviation Terminal (G&BAT) at Guanacaste Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Costa Rica. This project represents a strategic milestone for Signature Aviation as it extends its global reach into a key tourism and business destination.

The planned facility is designed to set a new benchmark for private aviation services in the region. It aims to greatly enhance the ground handling and hospitality experience for private flyers visiting the vibrant country, offering a level of professionalism and luxury previously unmatched in the area.

Luxury and Sustainability at the Core

The new terminal will feature a modern architectural design that complements Costa Rica's natural beauty. Its construction will be a partnership with Bambu Construction, a Costa Rican firm with deep local roots. The facility is scheduled to open in 2026.

The terminal's premium amenities and sustainable design elements will include:

  • A secure and private VIP guest lounge.
  • A dedicated conference room for guests.
  • Direct ramp access from the facility.
  • Dedicated customs and immigration clearance for private aviation clients.
  • A private indoor bay for guest vehicles.
  • EV charging stations for vehicles.
  • Finishes and designs utilizing local materials, reflecting Costa Rica's environmental ethos.

Leadership Perspectives and Local Impact

Tony Lefebvre, Chief Executive Officer of Signature Aviation, framed the project as a paradigm shift for VIP travel to Costa Rica. He stated that the collaboration with Coriport would export Signature's superior operating model, offering guests a massive leap forward in trust and professionalism upon arrival and departure from the Guanacaste region.

César Jaramillo, CEO of Coriport, the operator of Guanacaste Airport, welcomed the initiative. He highlighted that the project aligns with VINCI Airports' commitment to developing territories and fostering long-term value. Jaramillo noted it would enhance the airport's appeal to high-end travelers, boost mobility, and reinforce its role in international connectivity, all while reflecting Costa Rica's sustainable Pura Vida culture.

The project is expected to generate substantial local employment opportunities, starting with the construction phase led by Bambu Construction and continuing through to the terminal's initial and ongoing operations.
