Brooke Josephson Announces Divorce Following Husband's Epstein File Revelations

Singer Brooke Josephson has publicly announced she is divorcing her husband, Hollywood producer Barry Josephson, after his name surfaced in the newly released Jeffrey Epstein files. The announcement comes as newly disclosed U.S. Department of Justice records detail extensive email exchanges between Josephson and the convicted sex offender.

Explosive Email Exchanges Revealed

The DOJ documents, released last month, show frequent communications between Barry Josephson, 69, and Jeffrey Epstein that included discussions about women, money, and industry favors. In one particularly inflammatory 2011 email, Josephson allegedly told Epstein: "I have 'the' girl," adding, "Young, attractive, insane rack." Another exchange described a woman as "smart, although not a genius, but very efficient, will do anything, and tight lipped period end of story."

The emails also reveal Josephson discussing casting opportunities with Epstein. In a February 2013 message, he told the financier: "Casting girls for my pilot on Monday if he wants to stop by my office :)." When Epstein later requested specific women be cast in Josephson's projects and the producer couldn't accommodate the request, he allegedly wrote that he would "do anything to make amends."

Financial Transactions and Personal Connections

The documents further detail significant financial transactions between the two men. Josephson borrowed $120,000 from Epstein in 2011 and another $215,000 in 2013, both of which were reportedly repaid. After settling the second loan, Josephson wrote to Epstein: "I am overwhelmed by your friendship."

Even Josephson's then-wife Brooke became part of the email exchanges. In one message, he described to Epstein how difficult the audition process could be, noting it had been challenging to secure even a small part for Brooke on Bones in 2007, the television series he executive produced.

Brooke's Public Statement and Divorce Details

On Saturday, Brooke Josephson, 46, confirmed the end of her marriage through an Instagram post. The couple, who married in 2007 and share two children, actually separated in December 2024. Court documents filed in Los Angeles show that Barry Josephson initiated the divorce proceedings at that time.

In her statement, Brooke addressed the situation directly, saying she was "prepared to share a personal update ... in light of recent events in the news this week." She added that she "was not aware of Barry's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein during (their) entire marriage." The singer requested privacy and prayers for their children during this difficult period.

Barry Josephson's Response and Apology

Earlier this month, Barry Josephson attempted to distance himself from Epstein in an interview with Variety. "I knew nothing about him. You learn more and you distance yourself completely," he stated. The producer admitted his emails were indefensible, saying, "There's no excuse for what I said in some of my emails. The language was crude and juvenile, and I'm ashamed."

Josephson insisted that while he attended social events with Epstein and allowed him to visit his sets twice, he never traveled on Epstein's plane, never visited his private island, and never saw him "in the company of minors." He concluded with an apology, stating, "I apologize to all who were hurt by this clearly terrible and depraved individual."

Broader Context and Maxwell's Latest Moves

These revelations emerge as Epstein's longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell again makes headlines. On Tuesday, Maxwell, 64, refused to answer questions from lawmakers unless she received clemency from President Donald Trump. She pleaded the Fifth during a closed-door, virtual appearance before the House of Oversight Committee, which is conducting a bipartisan investigation into how the Justice Department handled the Epstein case.

Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in Texas after being convicted in 2021 of trafficking young girls to Epstein. The Daily Mail reported reaching out to the White House for comment regarding Maxwell's clemency request.

The Josephson divorce announcement adds another layer to the ongoing revelations from the Epstein files, highlighting how the financier's connections continue to reverberate through various sectors of society years after his death in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges.
