Reality star Suede Brooks has opened up about her relationship with Drake, revealing that she felt 'scared for her life' after receiving threatening text messages following their breakup. The 25-year-old Calabasas Confidential star appeared on the latest episode of Bunnie X's Dumb Blonde podcast, where she detailed the frightening aftermath of her split from the 39-year-old rapper.
How the Relationship Began
Brooks explained that she and Drake first connected when he was hired to perform at a friend's yacht party in Saint-Tropez. They 'hooked up' and eventually 'dated on and off for a few months.' She would travel to Toronto to visit him and even met his mother. However, she grew tired of the long-distance nature of the relationship. 'He lives such a big, fulfilled, busy life. I personally couldn't keep up with that,' she said. Brooks also pushed back on the narrative that she stepped onto his territory, insisting, 'He came onto our program.'
Threatening Messages After the Split
Brooks alleged that after their breakup, she received threatening texts due to a 'miscommunication.' She claimed Drake thought she was talking negatively about him in Los Angeles. 'I was getting text messages that he's gonna have bitches fold me up verbatim, that's what he said,' she alleged. 'I was like, for what? It was all miscommunication. He thought I was saying something that I didn't.' She described the messages as 'very alarming' and said she felt scared for her safety because of Drake's power and influence. 'When you hear those things said to you, coming from the most powerful artist in the world, that has so much power and can do things, the unimaginable, within the snap of a finger. It was very scary,' she claimed.
Fear and Isolation
Brooks said she was so frightened that she didn't leave her house for three months. 'I didn't step outside. I didn't go out, at least, because I was scared, especially of somebody of that power,' she confessed. The model, who was 21 or 22 at the time, said the threats made her fear for her life. She noted that they have since moved past the incident, saying, 'I know I've grown a lot from it, and I know he's grown a lot from it. I think also during that time it was emotional for both of us, because it was just like a big miscommunication.'
Current Feelings Toward Drake
Despite the past fear, Brooks expressed admiration for Drake, calling him a person with a 'great heart' and wishing 'nothing but the best' for him. 'I hope he finds somebody that he loves and cherishes for the rest of his life. It wasn't me, and it got to a point where it was almost like I physically and emotionally can't give you what you need, so I'm gonna step away,' she said. Drake has not publicly responded to Brooks' allegations.
