Tiffany Haddish didn't plan a girls trip to attend President Donald Trump's Great American State Fair on July Fourth. But it seems few people planned any trip to the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, which Haddish mocked while guest-hosting “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Monday night.
Haddish Highlights Sparse Crowds
After playing news clips from right-leaning outlets attempting to convince viewers that crowds were larger than they appeared, the montage ended with an attendee being honest. “This is terrible,” Jeff, a D.C. resident, admitted to a reporter. Haddish then doubled down on the poor turnout, which likely irked Trump given his obsession with crowd sizes.
“I’mma be honest with y’all, there was more people at my bat mitzvah,” Haddish joked. She added, “I am going to be real honest with you — there was more people at my DUI trial.” Haddish celebrated a bat mitzvah on her 40th birthday after a DNA test revealed Jewish heritage. She also faces a DUI case in Georgia after a 2022 arrest for allegedly driving under the influence and falling asleep at the wheel after a charity event.
Trump's Fair and Crowd Claims
It's unclear how many attended the fair, originally touted as a nonpartisan celebration of America’s 250th anniversary before Trump rebranded it as a MAGA rally. Trump boasted the 14-day fair was “packed,” but privately he was reportedly “enraged” by photos showing poor attendance. On Sunday, he claimed on Truth Social that “422,000 people” showed up on July Fourth, but noted severe weather forced an evacuation, delaying his speech.
The evacuation gave Haddish another target. “Trump was forced to delay his Fourth of July speech due to the hot and stormy weather. In fact, some MAGA fans had to seek shelter in the African American history museum.” The crowd applauded, and Haddish quipped, “You’re welcome, again.” She then delivered a zinger: “It was so hot outside, a bunch of white grandpas had to learn about Frederick Douglass. Found out that was their cousin.”
