Calgary Stampede 2026: Gourmet Food Beyond Midway

The Calgary Stampede is renowned for its midway fare, from bizarre creations to classics like corn dogs and barbecue. However, beyond the midway, the event offers a sophisticated culinary experience featuring gourmet cuisine, top chefs, and award-winning wines. Executive chef Michael Sabourin emphasizes the use of Alberta products to reflect the region's agricultural heritage.

Premium Dining Venues

The Stampede Cellar Champion Wine Experience, an 18+ venue in the BMO Centre, showcases winners from the annual Stampede Cellar Showdown wine competition, paired with Canadian cheese, charcuterie, beef tartare, and albacore tuna crudo. Eric Giesbrecht of Meta4Foods shucks oysters from both coasts and serves Acadian caviar.

According to Sabourin, “We have an opportunity because we’re the Stampede to go and see the ranchers and be a part of that community. The team as a whole wants to be creating items that elevate the experience. The idea is to use everything we can from Alberta.”
