The vibrant and diverse world of Canadian drag is set for a major spotlight as two celebrated performers from Vancouver join the cast of the highly anticipated new season of Canada's Drag Race.
Local Stars Take the National Stage
Premiering on November 20 at 6 p.m. on Crave, the 10-episode season features a fierce competition among queens from across the nation, all vying for the coveted title of Canada's Next Drag Superstar. Representing the West Coast are local favourites PM, 31, and Hazel, 27, who will compete against 10 other performers.
For PM, the opportunity was a profound journey of self-discovery. "Going into this process and being able to focus 100 per cent on myself and my drag was really something so beautiful," PM shared. "It was challenging, obviously, and the days were long, obviously — but I feel like it was all worth it!"
A High-Pressure Creative Crucible
Hazel described the experience as "absolutely wild," emphasizing the intense, timed challenges that push contestants to their absolute limits. "Challenges that would normally take days or weeks to perfect, you suddenly have to deliver in a matter of hours with a clock ticking down," she explained. "That pressure forces you to dig deep, trust your instincts and tap into parts of your creativity you didn't even know were there."
Beyond the glitter and glamour, both artists see their participation as a mission to represent their city's dynamic drag community on a national platform.
Carrying the Torch for Vancouver's Drag Scene
"Our city has some of the strongest drag talent in the entire country — queens, kings and everything in between," said Hazel, who is also a former competitive diver for the Canadian team. "We're diverse, creative and constantly pushing the artistry forward, and it's an honour to be the one carrying that legacy onto the show. Vancouver's scene has shaped me, challenged me and motivated me to grow, and I'm proud to step onto that runway as a direct product of this community."
PM expressed a specific desire to showcase Vancouver's "rich and beautiful alternative drag scene" and to educate viewers on the depth of the art form. "There is so much more to drag than just being a female impersonator," they said. "And I am so excited that I get to carry the torch and represent all the weirdos."
The judging panel for this season features the returning Canadian trio of Brooke Lynn Hytes, Brad Goreski, and Traci Melchor, who will be joined by a different celebrity guest judge each episode.
