Vancouver Duo Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg Win Golden Globes for 'The Studio'
Vancouver's Rogen & Goldberg Win Golden Globes

The 83rd Golden Globes ceremony in Hollywood on Sunday night turned into a major victory lap for Vancouver's own creative duo, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Their Apple TV+ comedy series, The Studio, clinched the award for Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy, continuing its dominant run through the current awards season.

A Double Win for Rogen

The night was particularly sweet for Seth Rogen, who secured a personal triumph by winning the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy TV Series. He earned the honour for his portrayal of Matt Remick, the beleaguered head of a struggling legacy Hollywood studio in the series. Rogen triumphed over a stacked category that included fellow Canadian Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building), as well as Adam Brody, Glen Powell, Jeremy Allen White, and Steve Martin.

In a humorous and heartfelt acceptance speech, Rogen acknowledged the surreal nature of the win. "We just pretended to do this, and now it's happening," he said, referencing a plot line from the show. He paid special tribute to his childhood heroes and competitors, Steve Martin and Martin Short, before thanking his co-stars and crew.

Gratitude for the Unsung Crew

When accepting the award for Best Series alongside creative partner Evan Goldberg, Rogen used the moment to shine a spotlight on the essential crew members who make the technically ambitious show possible. "We shoot our show in these long, continuous takes, and part of the reason I wanted to do that is it doesn't work unless the whole crew really comes together to make it work," Rogen stated. He proceeded to thank numerous crew members by name, emphasizing that the award belonged to them as much as anyone.

Rogen also revealed exciting news for fans: production on Season 2 of The Studio is set to begin in just one week.

Award Season Dominance Continues

The Golden Globes wins are the latest in a string of accolades for the Vancouver-born team's series. Just one week prior, on January 4, 2026, The Studio swept the 31st Critics Choice Awards, winning Best Comedy Series, Best Actor in a Comedy for Rogen, and Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy for Ike Barinholtz.

This success follows a historic night at the Emmy Awards last September, where The Studio set a new record for the most wins by a comedy in a single season with 13 awards. Those included top prizes for Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor for Rogen, and directing and writing awards for both Rogen and Goldberg.

At the Golden Globes, The Studio beat out formidable competition including Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Nobody Wants This, and Only Murders in the Building to claim the top comedy prize.
