The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival has officially announced its theme for the 2026 edition: Fringe Unforgettable. The 45th annual event will run from Aug. 13 to 23, featuring 209 shows across 37 venues in Old Strathcona, the French Quarter, and surrounding areas.
Theme Celebrates Lasting Memories
Organizers revealed the theme on Monday, emphasizing the festival's role in creating enduring moments. 'This year’s theme celebrates the moments that linger long after the final bow,' a Fringe release stated. 'The unexpected discoveries. The daring performances. The belly laughs, tears, chance encounters, familiar faces and hugs in a lineup outside a theatre, and the unforgettable stories that have shaped North America’s largest and longest running Fringe Theatre Festival for nearly half a century.'
Festival Highlights and New Additions
In addition to the main stage shows, the festival will offer free concerts in ATB Park featuring local and touring artists, KidsFringe, and 35 outdoor performers including circus acts and street theatre. New this year is an expanded pêhonân, an Indigenous-led gathering place for storytelling and connection, as well as 'Q2Q: A Queer Barns Series' with open mics and drag workshops. The Fringe Shuttle, a free service supported by Edmonton Transit, will return to transport attendees between the main Fringe grounds and the French Quarter.
Ticket and Guide Information
Festival guides go on sale July 29, with ticket sales starting Aug. 5 at noon. More details are available on the Fringe festival’s website.
