Renowned fashion designer Clare Waight Keller has officially launched her second jewelry collaboration with sustainable fashion brand Reformation, marking an exciting development in accessible luxury for Canadian fashion enthusiasts.
Drawing Inspiration from Fashion Archives
When conceptualizing this new collection, Waight Keller delved into fashion history for creative direction. The celebrated designer, who previously served as artistic director for Givenchy and currently holds the position of global creative director at Uniqlo, found her muse in vintage editorial spreads.
"I have been looking at old back issues of French Vogue and L'Officiel, particularly editorials of oversized glam statement jewelry of the '80s: bold, graphic and modern with textures and strong lines," Waight Keller explained regarding her design references.
The designer emphasized her intention to create pieces that make a striking visual impact while remaining versatile enough for everyday wear, bridging the gap between exceptional occasion jewelry and daily accessories.
Evolution from First Collection
Building upon the success of her initial collaboration with Reformation, Waight Keller revisited favorite elements from the first collection while introducing innovative materials and design details.
"Such as the sparkling slash cut through the Gertrude Cuff," the designer noted about the enhancements to returning styles. She also expressed particular excitement about exploring more sculptural forms within the new collection, specifically highlighting the Lillian series as an example of this artistic direction.
All pieces in the collection maintain Reformation's commitment to sustainability, crafted exclusively from 100 percent recycled metals, including sterling silver and 24-karat gold vermeil.
The Power of Statement Jewelry
For the designer famous for creating Meghan Markle's wedding dress, jewelry represents more than mere decoration—it serves as a crucial element of personal expression within one's wardrobe.
"I have always loved the glamour of the '70s and '80s, and how jewelry really accessorized the look," Waight Keller shared. She described statement jewelry as that exciting finishing touch that completes an outfit, particularly when paired with contemporary basics like off-the-shoulder knits or simple shirts.
The designer specifically highlighted the appealing contrast of wearing substantial pieces like metal cuffs with casual T-shirts, noting that this juxtaposition creates a fresh, modern aesthetic.
When asked about her personal favorites from the new collection, Waight Keller identified several standout pieces. "I love the new version of the sculptural Gertrude Cuff and the new matching ring," she revealed. "Also, the hammered graphic shape of the Lillian series—they are great statement pieces whilst still being beautiful for every day."
The collection offers accessible luxury pricing, with pieces ranging from $148 to $348, available exclusively through Reformation's retail channels.
