Delta Welcomes New Free Summer Music Festival Headlined by 54-40

The city of Delta is set to host the inaugural Barns to Beaches Festival, a new free outdoor summer music event that promises a full day of live entertainment headlined by the renowned band 54-40. This festival, scheduled for June 20, marks a vibrant addition to the Lower Mainland's summer calendar, combining music, community, and outdoor activities in a unique celebration of local culture.

Festival Details and Inspiration

The Barns to Beaches Festival takes its name from the newly established Barns to Beaches bike route, which is slated to open on June 1. This 16-kilometer route features 29 branded wayfinding signs that connect local breweries, farm stands, cafés, and beaches from Delta to Tsawwassen, creating a scenic pathway for cyclists and festival-goers alike. The festival site will be located at Southlands Red Barn, 6333 Market Ave in Delta, with events kicking off at 10 a.m. and live music running from 2 p.m. onwards.

Delta Mayor George Harvie expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "This festival is about bringing people together and celebrating what makes Delta such a fun city to call home. We're fortunate to have beautiful outdoor spaces and a community that enjoys getting outside, connecting with one another, and taking part in local events." The festival aims to foster community engagement while showcasing the region's natural beauty and local businesses.

Community Bike Rides and Activities

In conjunction with the music festival, a community bike ride is scheduled to coincide with the event, offering three options for participants of all ages. The Full Course is a 32-kilometer round-trip from Tsawwassen to Ladner and back, while the Leisure Ride covers an 8-kilometer route to the Boundary Bay Dike and back. Additionally, a one-kilometer Kids Ride will loop within the festival grounds throughout the day.

Along the bike routes, ten celebration stations will be set up, featuring complimentary snacks, themed activities, and interactive experiences. The main festival site will also host an Adventure Expo from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., a fully licensed area showcasing local craft beers and beverages, and food trucks serving a variety of tasty treats.
