The Strokes Announce Vancouver Stop on Global Reality Awaits Tour
Fresh from their performance at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, iconic New York rock band The Strokes have confirmed a worldwide tour in support of their upcoming album Reality Awaits. The tour includes a highly anticipated Vancouver concert scheduled for August 27 at Rogers Arena, marking a significant return to the Canadian West Coast for the influential quintet.
Legendary Band Returns with New Album and Tour
Formed in 1998, The Strokes emerged as pioneers of the early-2000s rock revival alongside contemporaries like White Stripes, The Killers, and Arctic Monkeys. Their groundbreaking debut album Is This It catapulted them to immediate fame, earning critical acclaim and a devoted global following. However, subsequent releases failed to match their initial success, leading to a five-year hiatus after their third album First Impressions of Earth.
During this break, frontman Julian Casablancas and guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. pursued solo projects with varying outcomes. The band reunited in 2011 with Angels and followed with 2013's Comedown Machine before largely stepping away from recording and touring for much of the following decade.
Grammy-Winning Comeback and New Release
The Strokes experienced a remarkable resurgence with their 2020 album The New Abnormal, produced by legendary music producer Rick Rubin. Widely regarded as their strongest work since their debut, the album earned the 2021 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album, reaffirming their status in the music industry.
Rubin has returned to produce Reality Awaits, scheduled for release on June 26 through Cult Records/RCA Records. The band has already released the mellow new single Going Shopping, offering fans a preview of their latest musical direction.
