ITF Rebrands as World Tennis with 30% Growth Goal

On June 25, 2026, the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the governing body of tennis since 1913, officially rebranded as World Tennis. The organization unveiled a vision for long-term sustainable growth, targeting a 30% increase in global participation from 106 million to 140 million players by 2035.

Strategic Priorities for Growth

World Tennis outlined five strategic priorities: growing participation, powering future stars, elevating official nations competitions, ensuring a sport fit for the future, and raising investment. The organization pledged to reinvest at least 85% of its annual income into the game over the next decade, supporting its 214 national tennis associations.

David Haggerty, World Tennis President, stated: "Our ambition is to grow the game in all corners of the world, hand-in-hand with 214 national tennis associations and stakeholders across the tennis ecosystem. This includes increasing participation, further developing the pathway for future stars to rise to the top, and providing more access, regardless of age, gender or background."

Focus on Participation and Player Pathways

World Tennis aims to connect its network of national associations to increase recreational players and promote health and social benefits. Enhancements to the global player pathway will build new markets and provide competitive opportunities worldwide. The organization also seeks to strengthen the Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, and World Team Cup as pinnacle national competitions and pathways to Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Ross Hutchins, World Tennis Chief Executive, commented: "Tennis can unlock a world of opportunities both on and off the court, no matter who or where you are. This is at the very heart of our role at World Tennis, where our responsibilities are just as relevant to a world number one as to the child who hasn't yet picked up a racket."

Investment and Innovation

To secure new revenue streams and value-driven partnerships, World Tennis will focus on innovation, digital connectivity, integrity, governance, and player wellbeing. The rebranding marks a new era for the organization, committing to unlock opportunities for people of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds.
