Windsor parks workers praised for post-fireworks cleanup

In a letter to the editor, Windsor resident James White has publicly praised the city's parks department for an outstanding cleanup job following the 68th annual Ford Fireworks on June 22, 2026.

Early morning inspection reveals spotless riverfront

White reported that on Tuesday morning, June 23, around 9:30 a.m., he biked along the downtown riverfront from the bridge to the Hiram Walker distillery. Despite the massive crowd that attended the fireworks the previous night, he found the area remarkably clean.

"After the fireworks last night, I expected to see quite a mess, but it was exactly the opposite – zero garbage blowing around the parks, garbage and recycle bins were emptied and the washroom I used was very clean," White wrote.

Team effort earns accolades

White extended his congratulations to the entire team responsible for the cleanup, stating, "The entire team responsible for the cleanup deserves a big pat on the back – well done!"

The Ford Fireworks, a long-standing Windsor tradition, draws tens of thousands of spectators to the downtown riverfront each year. The efficient post-event cleanup ensured the area was ready for residents and visitors the very next morning.
