Warm, Sunny Weather to Build Through Weekend Before Possible Showers Monday
Warm, Sunny Weekend Ahead Before Monday Showers

London, Ontario, is set to experience a stretch of warm and sunny weather through the weekend, according to Environment Canada. After a week of mixed conditions, a high-pressure system will bring clear skies and rising temperatures, with daytime highs reaching near 30°C on both Saturday and Sunday. The sunny spell is expected to be a welcome change for residents and visitors planning outdoor activities.

Weekend Forecast Details

Saturday will see mainly sunny skies with a high of 28°C, while Sunday is forecast to be even warmer at 30°C, accompanied by light winds. Overnight lows will dip to around 18°C, providing comfortable evenings. The UV index is expected to be high, so sun protection is recommended for those spending extended time outdoors.

Possible Showers Early Next Week

The pleasant weather is not expected to last into Monday, however. A low-pressure system moving in from the west could bring a 40% chance of showers and a slight cooldown, with a high near 24°C. Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson noted, “The ridge of high pressure will shift eastward by Monday, allowing a trough to approach from the west. This could trigger some instability and possible afternoon showers.”

Impact on Outdoor Events

The sunny weekend is good news for local events, including outdoor markets and festivals. London’s annual Sunfest, which begins on Thursday, will benefit from the dry conditions. Organizers are advising attendees to stay hydrated and apply sunscreen. Meanwhile, the city’s parks and trails are expected to see increased usage, with many residents taking advantage of the warmth.

Despite the promising forecast, officials remind the public to remain cautious about heat-related illnesses. London-Middlesex Health Unit recommends drinking plenty of water and avoiding strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours.

The warm weather also aids ongoing construction projects, but the potential for Monday showers could cause minor delays. The city’s roadwork schedule remains unaffected for now.
