After a few drizzly days in Metro Vancouver, balmy weather is set to greet the start of Vancouver's World Cup matches this weekend. Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts clear skies and temperatures of 28 C inland or 22 C near the water for Saturday's kickoff at B.C. Place.
Temperature Details
Overnight temperatures will cool to around 13 C, then climb again on Sunday to 24 C and 29 C inland. Monday is expected to be similar, while Tuesday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 26 C. The Vancouver matches run until July 7.
FIFA Water Ban Update
Last week, FIFA banned ticket holders from bringing their own water to matches. However, following global concerns about heat-related issues like dehydration, the association partially lifted the ban, allowing clear plastic bottles but nothing else.
B.C. Place will host seven World Cup games, though soaring ticket prices have led to scrutiny from U.S. states investigating FIFA. It remains to be seen how many matches will sell out.
