Ottawa Fire Services has lifted the open fire ban for the capital region following a thorough drenching from recent rainfall.
Ban Imposed After Multiple Brush Fires
The service initiated the ban earlier this week after responding to 24 brush fires and 21 burn complaints since the previous weekend. The dry conditions had prompted the fire department to take precautionary measures to prevent further incidents.
Residents Reminded to Obtain Permits
Despite the ban being lifted, residents are reminded that they must obtain an open fire permit before burning. Prior to setting an open-air fire, individuals should contact the Ottawa Fire Services communications centre at 613-580-2880 to ensure compliance with local regulations.
Officials emphasize that safety remains a priority, and fire permits are required to manage and monitor outdoor burning activities effectively.

Ottawa Fire Services took to social media to announce the lifting of the ban, stating: "The #OpenAirFireBan has been lifted. If you plan on having a fire, ensure you have a valid permit, call the burn line before starting your fire at 613-580-2880, and ensure you have plenty of water to extinguish the fire."
The department thanked residents for their cooperation during the ban period and encouraged continued vigilance to prevent wildfires.
