On Canada Day 2026, Xeal Energy officially launched its self-reliant EV charging technology in Canada, offering property owners a patented solution that operates without cellular, Wi-Fi, or IT infrastructure. The launch comes as Canada targets 75% EV adoption by 2035 and 90% by 2040, backed by a new C$2.3-billion five-year fund and rebates up to $5,000 for battery-electric vehicles and $2,500 for plug-in hybrids.
Addressing a Critical Infrastructure Gap
Xeal's technology is designed specifically for Canadian built environments, including multifamily residential and commercial properties. The company guarantees 100% uptime through its patented Xeal Protocol, which establishes a direct encrypted communication channel between a driver's smartphone and the charger, eliminating dependence on cellular networks, Wi-Fi, or external servers.
Nearly one in three EV charger sites experiences regular downtime, with 95% of that downtime caused by centralized network dependency, according to Xeal. Traditional chargers rely on cellular towers, cloud systems, and signal boosters, creating multiple failure points that leave drivers stranded.
Industry and Government Support
“Xeal Energy is entering the Canadian market at exactly the right moment,” said Catherine McKenna, CEO of Climate and Nature Solutions and Canada’s former Minister of Environment and Climate Change. “As the energy transition accelerates, Canadians are looking for practical, affordable ways to make the shift to electric vehicles. Xeal is helping solve one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption by making charging infrastructure accessible for multi-unit residential buildings and institutional properties.”
Roughly 35% of Canadians live in multifamily settings, and with over 80% of EV charging happening at home, property owners need reliable infrastructure. “Backed by strong government support for the market, Xeal is expanding into Canada to support the next wave of EV charging infrastructure adoption for real estate,” said Nikhil S. Bharadwaj, CEO and Co-Founder of Xeal Energy. “By eliminating the primary challenge for charger uptime, our self-reliant Helix Computing protocol guarantees 100% uptime to empower Canadian real estate leaders to scale charging seamlessly.”
Technology and Market Impact
Xeal’s Helix Computing protocol ensures a tap-to-charge experience that works every time, in any environment. The company targets developers and property owners who need to act now to equip buildings for growing EV adoption. With increasing incentives and more affordable EV models, Xeal aims to provide a low-overhead solution that scales without complex IT integration.
