The Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre in Midland is set to host its annual Conservation Carnival this weekend, offering families and nature enthusiasts a chance to engage with local wildlife and learn about environmental stewardship. The event takes place on June 28 and 29, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Hands-On Activities and Live Animal Encounters
Visitors can participate in guided nature walks, bird banding demonstrations, and meet live animals including turtles, snakes, and owls. The carnival also features interactive exhibits on wetland conservation, pollinator gardens, and sustainable practices. According to Wye Marsh officials, the goal is to inspire visitors to protect natural habitats.
Family-Friendly Entertainment
In addition to educational stations, the carnival includes face painting, crafts, and a scavenger hunt with prizes. Food vendors will be on-site, and admission is by donation. The event has grown steadily since its inception, drawing over 2,000 attendees last year.
Promoting Environmental Awareness
“The Conservation Carnival is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to connect with nature and learn how they can make a difference,” said a Wye Marsh spokesperson. “We hope everyone leaves with a greater appreciation for our local ecosystems.”
