Substantial Funding Announcement at Regina Event

The Mosaic Company has pledged a substantial $2 million donation to the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation. The announcement was made during a formal ceremony held at the AGT Lounge within Mosaic Stadium in Regina on Monday, April 20, 2026. This latest contribution reinforces the ongoing partnership between the corporate donor and the pediatric healthcare foundation.

A Personal Story of Resilience and Support

Abir Raiyan of Regina was just twelve years old when he received a life-altering cancer diagnosis. For nearly three years, he underwent intensive treatment at the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital in Saskatoon. During this difficult period, the hospital's specialized programming provided a crucial emotional outlet.

"It was just a sad time," recalled Raiyan, now eighteen, during a recent news conference. "But the support that I got from the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital and the Mosaic Child Life programming helped me cope with all the bad things that were going on in my life."

The hospital's Child Life program, which offers activities like painting and video games, is designed to give young patients an escape from the stresses of medical treatment. This program receives partial funding from The Mosaic Company.

Foundation's Mission and Corporate Partnership

The Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation is dedicated to raising funds to enhance maternal and children's healthcare services at the Saskatoon hospital and throughout Saskatchewan. According to an official news release, these efforts finance specialized medical equipment, innovative research projects, and family-centered care programs.

Foundation CEO Troy Davies emphasized the critical role of corporate sponsors. "We don't even have the hospital without donors like Mosaic coming to the table with the province to work with our foundation," Davies stated following Monday's announcement.

Mosaic has been a foundational partner since the children's hospital opened its doors in 2019. With this latest commitment, the potash company's total contributions to the hospital through its foundation have reached an impressive $12.5 million.

Allocation of the New Funds

The newly announced $2 million donation will be directed toward several key initiatives. A portion will support the Child Life Zone, a dedicated hospital space where children can engage in play and relaxation activities. This zone is an integral component of the broader Mosaic Child Life program, which aims to transform the hospital experience by alleviating fear, anxiety, and pain through compassionate, holistic care.

Additional funds are earmarked to support the foundation's annual fundraising gala and the Roughrider & Children's Hospital Foundations Lottery. Furthermore, the donation will help establish a new Indigenous research chair position at the University of Regina. This academic role will focus on studying the impacts of childhood and intergenerational adversities, contributing valuable insights to the field of pediatric health and wellness.

The continued partnership between Mosaic and the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation underscores a shared commitment to advancing pediatric healthcare, supporting vital research, and improving the hospital experience for young patients and their families across Saskatchewan.
