Jacobian Expands Collaboration with SickKids to Advance Pediatric Imaging

Jacobian, the leading provider of front-end imaging platforms, has announced the continuation and expansion of its longstanding collaboration with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to improving outcomes for children through enhanced pediatric radiology.

The collaboration unites the world's top children's hospital with the #1 Best in KLAS Speech Recognition Front-End Imaging platform, recognized from 2022 to 2026. Together, they aim to bring greater efficiency, quality, consistency, and specialty-relevant insights to pediatric reporting workflows.

Addressing Challenges in Pediatric Radiology

Pediatric radiology is one of the most demanding fields in medicine. Cross-sectional imaging volumes have grown by over 50%, yet the pediatric radiology workforce has shrunk. Specialty-specific technology has not kept pace with this growing demand. Through their collaboration, Jacobian and SickKids will leverage purpose-built AI innovation to reduce cognitive load on radiologists while improving diagnostic accuracy.

Dr. Birgit Ertl-Wagner, Radiologist-in-Chief at SickKids, stated: "At SickKids, we hold ourselves to the highest standard because the children we serve deserve nothing less. With the reporting foundation firmly anchored, we can focus on more complex challenges to advance Precision Child Health. Ultimately, this helps shape the future of pediatric radiology so every child benefits from faster and more accurate diagnostic imaging."

Tackling Rare Diseases with AI

One persistent challenge in pediatric radiology is the detection of rare diseases. Subtle and uncommon findings can be difficult to recognize without deep expertise. To address this gap, Jacobian will combine its trusted clinical knowledge-based architecture with SickKids' world-class pediatric radiology subspecialty expertise. Together, they plan to embed context-specific guidelines and flag subtle findings directly into the radiologist's workflow, ensuring that rare conditions do not go undetected.

Wieland Sommer, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Jacobian, commented: "Pediatrics has been underserved by healthcare technology for too long. Working with SickKids gives us the clinical depth to change that. We are building a future where no radiologist has to face a rare or complex pediatric finding alone. Our assistive technology works ambiently in tandem and in context, within preferred workflows."

Jacobian's Fluency for Imaging platform, trusted by over 10,000 radiologists worldwide, will be showcased at SIIM 2026 in Pittsburgh from June 10 to 12.
