BYD Launches ATTO 2 DM-i Super Hybrid in Europe with 1000km Range
BYD ATTO 2 DM-i Super Hybrid Launches in Europe

Chinese automotive giant BYD has taken another significant step in its European expansion with the official launch of the ATTO 2 DM-i Super Hybrid in Barcelona, Spain. The November 19, 2025 event marked the European debut of this innovative compact SUV that combines electric driving with hybrid flexibility.

Electric-First Driving Experience

During test-drive sessions for journalists, BYD demonstrated how the ATTO 2 DM-i operates primarily as an electric vehicle for daily use. The top version offers up to 90 kilometres of pure electric driving, making it capable of handling most daily commutes without consuming any fuel.

When additional power or range is required, the vehicle's highly efficient 1.5-litre petrol engine seamlessly takes over, recharging the battery and supporting the electric motor. This sophisticated system ensures drivers can enjoy electric driving without range anxiety.

Impressive Range and Performance

The combination of electric and hybrid power delivers exceptional performance metrics. The ATTO 2 DM-i achieves a total range of up to 1,000 kilometres with remarkably low fuel consumption, directly addressing the concerns of drivers hesitant to switch to fully electric vehicles due to charging infrastructure limitations.

Unlike traditional plug-in hybrids, BYD's DM-i technology is engineered to prioritize electric driving, with the combustion engine serving primarily as a range extender rather than the main power source.

Expanding BYD's European Presence

Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, emphasized the strategic importance of this launch for the European market. "The Super Hybrid DM technology is the ideal step for those who want the electric-car experience without worrying about range," Li stated during the Barcelona event.

She further explained that with the ATTO 2 DM-i, BYD brings these advantages to the competitive compact SUV segment, creating what the company describes as "not just a car — it's a BYD."

Alongside the hybrid model, BYD also presented the fully electric ATTO 2 Comfort version, equipped with the company's proprietary Blade Battery and capable of more than 400 kilometres of range. This dual approach strengthens BYD's position in the European compact SUV market while offering consumers multiple electrified options.

The launch underscores BYD's determination to consolidate its European presence with technologies developed entirely in-house, focusing on practical, efficient, and accessible electrified mobility solutions for diverse driving needs across the continent.
