Fort Langley Restaurateur Opens Third Eatery, Sabà Pizzeria

Restaurateur Simone Hurwitz has opened Sabà Pizzeria, her third dining establishment in Fort Langley, located at 23238 Mavis Ave. The venue features indoor-outdoor dining, a gelato window, a grab-and-go market, and a deli counter for fresh sandwiches.

A Family Affair

Hurwitz, who opened Sabà Café in 2017 and the elevated Sabà Bistro in 2022, envisioned the pizzeria as a welcoming space for families of all ages. "We're all about family and community and sharing and eating and enjoying and laughing," she says. "I wanted to answer the question, 'Where are the families going to go?'"

The restaurant draws inspiration from a small, family-run pizzeria in Reggio Emilia, Italy, which Hurwitz and her family frequented every Sunday. "The girls would run in the kitchen, and they knew everybody," she recalls. "That was the catalyst of this space."

Daughters in the Business

Sabà Pizzeria is the most family-oriented of Hurwitz's restaurants, with her three daughters contributing significantly. Her youngest, Emma Campani, works as a chef; her middle daughter, Danielle Campani, handles marketing and oversees the gelato program; and her eldest, Laura Campani, helped create the cocktail menu from England. "It has been a family project and a journey," Hurwitz says.

Menu and Pricing

The menu offers elevated-casual Italian fare at reasonable prices: appetizers range from $14 to $28, pastas from $22 to $32, and pizzas from $20 to $28. A tasting included fresh salads and standout dishes like prosciutto and melon ($29) with thick slices of cantaloupe and St. Daniele prosciutto crudo, and polpette ($23) featuring seasoned meatballs in tangy basil and tomato sauce.

Community Focus

Hurwitz emphasizes the importance of community, noting that the restaurant has been three years in the making. "We found a really beautifully community here," she says, aiming to bring the hometown feel of Italy to Fort Langley.
