Missing Peacocks Found Safe West of Edmonton

Two stolen peacocks named Pete and Hilda have been safely reunited with their owner after being discovered along Highway 16 near Duffield, Alberta, according to RCMP. The birds were found on April 26 inside a crate abandoned on the roadside, approximately 65 kilometers west of Edmonton.

Rescuers Step In After News Reports

Parkland RCMP reported that two individuals rescued the peacocks and contacted Smoky Lake RCMP after seeing news reports about the stolen birds. The peacocks had been taken when a truck was stolen in Stony Plain. The rescuers helped facilitate the safe return of Pete and Hilda to their owner.

Smoky Lake RCMP Sgt. Anita Doktor expressed delight at the outcome, stating, "A happy ending! Smoky Lake RCMP were delighted to assist in bringing Pete and Hilda back to their owner." Police thanked the rescuers for their quick action and care for the birds.

Stolen Truck Still Missing

The stolen vehicle, a white 2005 Ford F350 crew cab with British Columbia licence plate SY7996, has not yet been recovered. The truck was stolen from Stony Plain with the crated peacocks on board.
