Edmonton police have arrested a man in connection with a jewelry store robbery at West Edmonton Mall that occurred in early May. The suspect was identified through fingerprint evidence collected at the scene.
Details of the incident
On May 5, at approximately 8:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a theft at a jewelry store within West Edmonton Mall. According to authorities, a man entered the store, tried on several pieces of jewelry, and then fled with the items. During his escape, he sprayed pepper spray to deter pursuit.
Investigation and arrest
The Edmonton Police Service's crime scenes investigation section recovered fingerprints from the scene. These prints were matched to a suspect known to police, who was also linked to several other jewelry thefts across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Troy Jason Boss, has been arrested and charged.
Charges filed
Troy Jason Boss faces the following charges:
- Theft over $5,000
- Failure to comply with a probation order
- Breach of conditions of a release order
