Indian Man Digs Up Sister's Body, Takes Corpse to Bank for Withdrawal
Indian Man Takes Sister's Exhumed Body to Bank for Withdrawal

In a bizarre incident in India, a man allegedly exhumed his sister's body from a cemetery and transported it to a bank in an attempt to withdraw money from her account, police said Wednesday.

Shocking Discovery at Bank

The incident came to light when the man, identified as 38-year-old Ramesh Kumar, arrived at a bank in the city of Agra carrying a large bag. Bank employees became suspicious when Kumar attempted to present the corpse's hand for a thumbprint verification required for the withdrawal.

Police said Kumar had dug up his sister's grave, which was only three days old, and brought the body to the bank. He claimed he needed the money to pay for her funeral expenses.

Investigation Underway

Local police have arrested Kumar and are investigating the incident. Authorities are also looking into whether any bank employees were complicit in the attempted fraud.

“This is a shocking and macabre case,” said police inspector Vikram Singh. “We are questioning the suspect and reviewing bank security footage to understand the full sequence of events.”

The bank has temporarily suspended the staff involved pending an internal inquiry.

Community in Shock

The incident has left the local community stunned. Neighbors described Kumar as a devoted brother who was deeply affected by his sister's sudden death due to illness.

“He was very close to his sister,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. “We never expected something like this. It's horrifying.”

The sister's body has been returned to the cemetery for proper reburial.
