Man Charged Over Ottawa Church Incident in Kanata

A 40-year-old man is facing charges of criminal harassment, mischief to religious property, and breach of probation following an incident at a church in Kanata on May 3.

The Ottawa Police Service announced the arrest in a news release on May 8. The suspect, who was not identified, is accused of entering a church on Rothesay Drive at approximately 9:20 a.m., damaging an item on the high altar, and shouting profanities before fleeing in a vehicle.

Police reported that no one inside the building interacted with the suspect, no weapons were reported, and there were no injuries. The man was expected to appear in court in Ottawa on Friday afternoon.
